Transformarán Plaza de la República en zona turística de la Ciudad de México

El GDF dio a conocer un proyecto para transformar el Monumento a la Revolución y la Plaza de la República en un corredor turístico que conecte la zona de Buenavista con el Centro Histórico, a fin de convertirlos en una de las zonas históricas más importantes del mundo. El proyecto de rehabilitación contempla la homologación del concepto histórico de los inmuebles aledaños al monumento, así como la recuperación de edificios, que se encuentran en la Plaza de la. República y que están abandonados. Para ello, el gobierno de la Ciudad de México, informó que antes de que concluya este año presentará el proyecto técnico, y aseguró que se encuentra en pláticas con los propietarios para realizar los cambios en las fachadas de los inmuebles, aunque hasta el momento se descarta alguna expropiación como parte de la recuperación. Además, para la instalación del corredor turístico, se prevé que el nuevo tranvía de la ciudad pase por la zona y enlace el Centro Histórico con Paseo de la Reforma; incluso el GDF contempla un proyecto de remodelación para la sede del PRI.

The GDF (Distrito Federal City Council) presented a project to transform the Monument to the Revolution and the Plaza of the Republic into a tourist corridor that will connect the zone of Buenavista with the Historical Center, in order to turn them into one of the most important historical zones in the World. The rehabilitation project contemplates the homologation of the historical concept of the buildings bordering to the monument, as well as the recovery of buildings, that are in the Plaza of the Republic and that are nowadays abandoned. For this, the government of Mexico City, informed that before this year concludes, they will present/display the technical project, and assured that they are still dealing with the proprietors to realise the changes in the facades of the buildings, although at the moment some expropriation for the recovery of these buildings has been denied. In addition, for the installation of the tourist corridor, it is anticipated that the new street car of the city will run through the zone and will connect the Historical Center with the Paseo de la Reforma. The City Council has considered as well a project for refurbishing the PRI headquarters building.
